Scientists create custom cancer vaccine from Patients' own cells

NCT ID NCT00458536

Summary

This study tested a personalized vaccine approach for advanced kidney cancer. Researchers created vaccines by combining patients' own cancer cells with their immune cells, then giving these back as injections. The main goals were to check if this approach was safe and to see if it could stimulate the immune system to fight cancer. The study involved 38 participants with stage IV kidney cancer who hadn't received prior chemotherapy.
