Could a common Anti-Inflammatory drug cut opiate dependence in ICU patients?
NCT ID NCT06819956
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a low dose of ketorolac, an NSAID painkiller, can safely reduce the need for opiates in critically ill ICU patients. Opiates are effective but can lead to dependence after leaving the hospital. The trial will enroll 30 adults in the ICU who are in pain, comparing ketorolac to a placebo to see if it lowers pain scores and opiate use. This is a small pilot study to test if a larger trial is possible.
