Starving brain tumors: diet and diabetes drug trial offers new hope

NCT ID NCT04691960

Summary

This study is testing whether a special high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet (ketogenic diet) combined with the diabetes medication metformin can help control aggressive brain tumors called glioblastomas. The approach aims to lower blood sugar levels, which might slow tumor growth. Researchers are checking if patients can tolerate and stick to this combined treatment plan.
