NCT ID NCT07558044

First seen May 06, 2026 ยท Last updated May 06, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether gargling with ketamine before tonsil surgery can reduce pain in children afterward. 420 kids aged 4-12 either gargled ketamine or a placebo before anesthesia. Researchers measured pain levels, bleeding, and need for extra pain medicine in the first 24 hours. The goal was to find a safer, opioid-sparing way to manage post-surgery pain.
