Ketamine: a speedier fix for severe depression?

Summary
This study tests whether a single dose of ketamine, given alongside the antidepressant venlafaxine, can relieve severe depression faster than venlafaxine alone. About 60 hospitalized adults with major depression will receive either ketamine or a placebo. The goal is to see if ketamine can reduce symptoms within days, potentially shortening hospital stays and lowering suicide risk.
