Doctors test ketamine on brain injury patients

NCT ID NCT06062628

Summary

This small, early study aims to understand how a single dose of ketamine affects brain pressure and oxygen levels in patients with severe traumatic brain injury. Researchers will monitor 10 critically ill patients who already have special brain monitors in place. The goal is to gather basic safety data and see if ketamine, a drug with pain-relieving and sedative properties, can be safely used in this vulnerable population where it has traditionally been avoided.
