Doctors test simple wash to stop dangerous joint infections

NCT ID NCT04075526

Summary

This study tested whether using antibiotic powder and an antiseptic wash during joint replacement surgery could prevent serious infections afterward. It involved over 2,100 patients at high risk for infection, such as those with diabetes, obesity, or who were having a second surgery. Researchers compared four different combinations of these treatments to see which worked best at keeping the new joint infection-free.
