Jaw pain study: could learning and simple exercises replace Hands-On therapy?

NCT ID NCT07423234

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a brief education and self-management program with home exercises can reduce pain and improve daily function in adults with long-lasting jaw pain (TMD) as effectively as more intensive hands-on physiotherapy. Forty adults aged 18–65 with jaw pain for at least 3 months will be randomly assigned to either two sessions of guided education and home exercises or six sessions of usual physiotherapy including manual therapy. The goal is to see if a simpler, less costly approach can provide similar relief.
