New device aims to catch chemotherapy leaks before they harm patients

NCT ID NCT06758011

Summary

This study tested whether a small sensor called ivWatch could detect when IV fluids or medications leak from a vein into surrounding tissue during cancer treatment. The research involved 2,400 adult cancer patients receiving chemotherapy through a standard IV line. The goal was to see if the device could spot leaks earlier than nurses can by sight, potentially preventing painful tissue damage.
