Heart stent study tests if extra ultrasound imaging prevents future attacks

NCT ID NCT07512778

First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using a special ultrasound camera inside the heart's arteries (IVUS) during stent placement is better than the standard X-ray method (angiography) for people with acute coronary syndrome. About 1,500 adults will be randomly assigned to one of the two methods. The goal is to see if IVUS reduces the chance of heart-related death, heart attack, or needing another procedure within two years.
