New hope for stomach cancer: drug combo aims to wipe out tumors before surgery

NCT ID NCT07374250

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding the drug ivonescimab to standard chemotherapy (SOX) can better shrink or eliminate tumors in people with locally advanced stomach or gastroesophageal junction cancer before surgery. About 154 adults aged 18-75 will be randomly assigned to receive either the combination or chemotherapy alone for about 4 months. The main goal is to see if the combination leads to a complete disappearance of cancer cells in the tumor sample after surgery.
