Could a common fever reducer replace opioids for gut blockage pain?
NCT ID NCT05878015
First seen May 15, 2026 ยท Last updated May 15, 2026
Summary
This study compares IV acetaminophen (a non-opioid pain reliever) to standard opioid pain care for people hospitalized with a small bowel obstruction. About 18 adults will be enrolled to see if this approach can control pain just as well, while possibly shortening hospital stays and avoiding opioid side effects. The goal is to find a safer way to manage pain during this condition.
