First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This phase 3 trial tests whether transplanting insulin-producing cells (islets) from donors can help adults with type 1 diabetes who still have dangerous low blood sugar episodes despite intensive insulin therapy. The goal is to improve blood sugar control and eliminate severe hypoglycemic events. Participants receive the islet transplant along with lifelong immune-suppressing drugs to prevent rejection.
