NCT ID NCT00708604

First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This early-phase study tested whether transplanting insulin-making cells (islets) into people with type 1 diabetes who already had a kidney transplant could help them stop using insulin. Only 3 participants were enrolled, and they stayed on lifelong anti-rejection drugs. The goal was to see if the procedure was safe and could improve blood sugar control and quality of life.
