Arm cuff trick may protect hearts during workouts in older women
NCT ID NCT07497659
First seen Apr 01, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a technique called ischemic preconditioning (briefly restricting blood flow to the arm) can reduce the heart's workload after resistance exercise in women aged 60 and older. Thirty physically active older women did two exercise sessions—one with the real technique and one with a fake version. The goal was to see if this simple method could lower blood pressure and heart strain, making exercise safer for older adults.
