Blood flow cuffs show promise for stroke rehab
NCT ID NCT05906602
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tested a technique called ischemic conditioning, which uses a blood pressure cuff to briefly restrict blood flow to the leg, to see if it could improve brain activity and movement in people who had a stroke. Twenty participants with stroke completed two sessions, one with real blood flow restriction and one with a sham (fake) version. The goal was to measure changes in brain signals and leg strength, not to provide a treatment.
