New iron treatment for anemic kids tested in major trial

NCT ID NCT05126901

Summary

This study tested a new iron supplement called ferric maltol against a common one, ferrous sulfate, in children and teens with iron-deficiency anemia. It aimed to see which was safer and easier on the stomach over 12 weeks of treatment. The trial also looked at the safety of the new supplement in very young children, from 1 month to 2 years old.
