Could a simple pill save brain function after a devastating stroke?

NCT ID NCT03754725

Summary

This early-stage trial is testing if a drug called deferiprone, which removes excess iron, can help people recover thinking skills after a life-threatening brain bleed from a burst aneurysm. Researchers believe iron released by the blood is toxic to the brain and causes memory problems. The study will give the drug or a placebo to 66 patients for 14 days and measure iron levels and cognitive function to see if it helps.
