Anesthesia type may influence healing hormone in broken arm surgery

NCT ID NCT07324681

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looks at how two types of anesthesia—general anesthesia and a nerve block—affect levels of a hormone called irisin in adults having surgery for a broken forearm. Researchers will measure irisin in blood samples before, 30 minutes after, and 24 hours after surgery. They also want to see if changes in irisin are linked to how well the bone heals. The study involves 90 adults aged 18 to 65.
