New lung therapy may help ventilated patients recover faster

NCT ID NCT07453966

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Aug 13, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a special breathing treatment called intrapulmonary percussive ventilation (IPV) to standard care helps patients with pneumonia who are on a breathing machine. About 96 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either standard therapy alone or standard therapy plus IPV. Researchers will monitor lung function, oxygen levels, and how quickly patients can be taken off the ventilator, aiming to see if IPV speeds recovery and is safe.
