When to intubate? study seeks answer for breathing failure

NCT ID NCT07189078

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looks at two ways doctors decide when to put a breathing tube in patients with severe low oxygen levels. One approach is to intubate early to prevent harm from low oxygen, while the other waits longer to avoid risks of the breathing machine. The goal is to find which strategy leads to better survival and fewer days on organ support. About 200 adults in intensive care will take part.
