When to intubate? new study seeks the sweet spot for breathing support

NCT ID NCT07189078

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at two different approaches to deciding when to place a breathing tube in patients with dangerously low oxygen levels. One strategy favors early intubation to prevent complications from low oxygen, while the other waits longer to avoid risks of the breathing machine. Researchers will track 200 adults in intensive care to see which approach leads to better outcomes, including survival and days free from organ failure.
