New blood loss monitor could make surgery safer
NCT ID NCT07617428
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing a new device that automatically measures how much blood a patient loses during surgery. Current methods like visual estimation can be inaccurate. The device will be compared to several standard methods in 120 adults undergoing urological or general surgery. The goal is to see if it gives more precise readings without interfering with the operation.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Novel multifunctional intraoperative blood loss monitoring system (device)
What this could lead to
If successful, this device could provide surgeons with more accurate, real-time blood loss measurements during surgery, potentially improving patient safety and reducing complications.
What could go wrong
This is an early observational study, not a treatment trial. The device may not prove more accurate than existing methods, and results may not apply to all surgery types.
