C-Section bleeding breakthrough? new study tests simple topical drug

NCT ID NCT07362992

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether putting tranexamic acid (a drug that helps blood clot) directly on the womb during a planned C-section can reduce bleeding during surgery. About 112 women having their first or second C-section will be randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a placebo. The main goals are to see if it shortens the time to close the womb and reduces the need for extra stitches to stop bleeding.
