First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a 10-week internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy program can improve quality of life and reduce ADHD symptoms in adults. Two hundred adults in Sweden who have been diagnosed with ADHD and are working or studying will be randomly assigned to either the therapy or a waitlist. The therapy includes weekly reading and exercises guided by a therapist, with the goal of helping participants manage attention, hyperactivity, and related anxiety or stress.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy

What this could lead to

If it works, this could provide a widely accessible, non-drug treatment option to help adults with ADHD manage symptoms and improve daily life.

What could go wrong

This is a relatively small trial testing a behavioral intervention, not a drug. Results may not apply to everyone with ADHD, and the therapy requires active participation and internet access.
