Chest massage may boost lung power in healthy young adults

NCT ID NCT07352722

First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a specific chest massage technique (intercostal mobilization) can improve breathing muscle strength, lung function, and walking speed in healthy but sedentary adults aged 18-30. Ninety volunteers will be split into three groups: one receiving the massage, one receiving a fake (sham) massage, and one receiving no massage. The goal is to see if this hands-on approach could become a new tool for respiratory rehabilitation.
