Summary

Researchers are testing whether a 12-week program of group exergames on an immersive interactive wall is practical for older adults living in nursing homes or long-term care units. Participants play whole-body movement games twice a week for about 40 minutes, with games adapted to their physical and cognitive abilities. The study tracks how well residents accept the program, how many sessions they attend, and whether any safety issues arise. It also looks at early signs of effects on thinking, quality of life, and well-being.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
an immersive interactive wall exergame program
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a fun, group-based way to keep older adults in care homes moving and mentally engaged.
What could go wrong
This is a small feasibility study with 25 participants, so it cannot prove the program works. Some residents may find the games too hard or tiring, and the results may not apply to other care settings.
