Daily phone calls after surgery may improve pain management
NCT ID NCT07252817
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether daily phone calls after day surgery help patients control pain better than a single call the next morning. 280 adults having hernia repair, gallbladder removal, hemorrhoid surgery, or knee/shoulder arthroscopy took part. The goal was to see if more frequent follow-up improves recovery quality and pain scores.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that intensive phone follow-up helps patients manage pain better after common surgeries.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed feasibility study, not a large trial. The results may not apply to all surgeries or patients.
