New hope for depression: 6-week intensive drug therapy may stop illness from becoming chronic

Summary
This study tests whether a 6-week intensified drug treatment (including esketamine) works better than usual care for people with major depression whose first antidepressant failed. About 418 adults aged 18-65 will take part. The goal is to quickly reduce symptoms and prevent the depression from becoming long-term and harder to treat.
