New shoulder implant aims to stop rotator cuff tears from returning
NCT ID NCT06741527
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is testing a device called the Integrity Implant System to see if it helps people with torn rotator cuffs heal better after surgery. The implant is used to support the repair and reduce the chance of the tear coming back. About 150 adults will take part, and their progress will be tracked for a year using MRI scans and shoulder function tests.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Integrity Implant System (a surgical device used to support rotator cuff repair)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this device could lower the chance of rotator cuff tears coming back after surgery, helping people recover better.
- What could go wrong
- This is a single-arm study without a comparison group, so results may be less reliable. The device may not reduce re-tear rates as hoped, and surgery always carries risks like infection or implant failure.
