Study tests if newer insulin is worth the cost for kids in need

NCT ID NCT05614089

Summary

This study aimed to find out if a newer, more expensive type of insulin (glargine) works better than older, cheaper human insulin for young people with type 1 diabetes in low-resource settings. It involved 400 participants aged 7-25 and measured how well each insulin controlled blood sugar levels and reduced the risk of dangerously low blood sugar over 6 and 12 months. The goal was to provide clear evidence to help guide affordable and effective treatment choices worldwide.
