Simple breathing workouts may boost liver and lung health in seniors

NCT ID NCT07193082

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tested whether a 4-week breathing exercise program (inspiratory muscle training) could improve diaphragm thickness, reduce fatty liver, and boost exercise capacity in 30 healthy men aged 60-80. Participants were split into a training group and a control group. Researchers measured changes using CT scans, a six-minute walk test, and quality-of-life surveys. The goal was to see if simple, at-home breathing exercises could help reverse age-related declines in muscle and organ health.
