New injectable filling material tested against standard fillings

NCT ID NCT06192667

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares two types of tooth-colored fillings for cavities on the chewing surface of back teeth. One is a new injectable resin composite, and the other is a conventional composite. Over 24 months, researchers will check how well each filling stays in place, resists staining, and prevents new decay. The study involves 30 healthy adults aged 18-35.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

dental resin composite (injectable or conventional)

What this could lead to

If the injectable composite performs as well or better than the conventional one, it could offer dentists a faster, easier way to fill cavities with similar durability.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The materials might still fail or cause sensitivity over time.
