Can a simple inhaler prevent lung damage in child transplant survivors?
NCT ID NCT04655508
First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looked at whether an inhaled combination of fluticasone and salmeterol (common asthma drugs) could help children aged 6–17 whose lung function dropped after a stem cell transplant. The goal was to prevent a serious lung condition called bronchiolitis obliterans. The trial was stopped early, but earlier research suggests this approach may improve breathing and reduce the need for strong steroids.
