Breathing treatment could protect brain during stroke surgery

NCT ID NCT05871606

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether inhaling nitric oxide gas is safe and feasible for patients undergoing emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from the brain after a stroke. The gas may help protect vulnerable brain tissue by improving blood flow to areas at risk of permanent damage. Researchers will enroll 36 stroke patients to find the maximum safe dose and see if it helps limit brain injury.
