Breathing treatment tested to stop fatal lung bleeds in critically ill cancer patients

NCT ID NCT05053867

Summary

This study is testing if a medicine called tranexamic acid, breathed in as a mist, can help control life-threatening lung bleeding in cancer patients who are on a breathing machine. It will compare this inhaled treatment to standard care to see if it improves survival at 28 days and helps stop the bleeding faster. The trial is for adults with blood cancers who are in intensive care with this serious complication.
