Multiple myeloma is a blood cancer in which abnormal plasma cells build up in bone marrow, and inflammation may shape how the disease behaves. Researchers at Assiut University plan to study 60 people newly diagnosed with myeloma before any anti-myeloma treatment begins. They will check whether simple inflammation ratios from routine complete blood counts, such as the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, line up with disease severity measures like bone marrow plasma cell percentage and with the surface features of the cancer cells. Patients with newly diagnosed Multiple Myeloma presenting to the Clinical Pathology and Oncology Departments at Assiut University Hospital and South Egypt Cancer Institute, prior to the initiation of anti-myeloma therapy.
