Tailored drug combo aims to boost breast cancer remission before surgery
NCT ID NCT07300215
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 2 trial tests a personalized approach for women with early-stage HR+/HER2+ breast cancer. After two cycles of standard therapy, patients who respond well continue the same treatment, while those who do not switch to a combination of targeted therapy and hormone-blocking drugs. The goal is to increase the rate of complete tumor disappearance before surgery. The study will enroll 60 participants and track tumor response and safety.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
individualized neoadjuvant treatment (TCbHP, trastuzumab dual-target, exemestane, palbociclib)
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could increase the rate of complete tumor disappearance before surgery, potentially improving long-term outcomes for patients with this specific breast cancer type.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase exploratory study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The treatment involves multiple drugs, which could increase side effects, and the strategy may not improve outcomes as hoped.
