STI tests could supercharge HIV prevention for african women
NCT ID NCT06743204
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding testing for common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) to standard risk screening helps more young women in Uganda start and stay on PrEP, a daily pill that prevents HIV. About 5,560 women aged 15-39 will be randomly assigned to either standard screening alone or screening plus STI testing. The goal is to see if STI testing better identifies women at high HIV risk and encourages them to use PrEP consistently.
