New training aims to catch delirium in seniors at the ER
NCT ID NCT05606328
First seen Jan 30, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested a training program to help emergency department nurses better detect delirium in older adults. Delirium is a sudden confusion that affects up to 20% of older ER patients and can lead to serious problems if missed. The program trained nurse champions through workshops and telehealth coaching, then measured how accurately they screened for delirium. The goal was to see if the training improves detection and to plan for a larger rollout.
