Heart surgery upgrade: study aims to get more patients the best grafts
NCT ID NCT07377149
First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study looks at whether training and other quality improvement steps can help surgeons use more artery grafts instead of vein grafts during heart bypass surgery. Artery grafts tend to last longer and work better. The study will track graft use in about 8,700 patients across hospitals that currently use fewer artery grafts. No direct treatments are given to patients—only hospital practices are changed.
