New bedside tool aims to give hip fracture patients a clearer voice in anesthesia choice
NCT ID NCT06438640
Summary
This study is testing whether a simple, one-page conversation guide helps doctors and patients have better discussions about anesthesia options before hip fracture surgery. It involves nearly 1,900 patients aged 50+ across six US hospitals. The goal is to see if this tool, combined with brief doctor training, improves shared decision-making and is easy for hospitals to use.
