New scan aims to end prostate cancer biopsy guesswork

NCT ID NCT05160597

Summary

This study is testing a new way to find prostate cancer in men whose previous biopsy results were unclear or negative. Researchers are using a special radioactive tracer that sticks to prostate cancer cells, which shows up on a PET/CT scan. This scan then guides the doctor's biopsy needle to the most suspicious areas, hoping to improve detection of serious cancers while avoiding unnecessary treatment for less serious ones.
