Fungus in lungs may worsen COPD symptoms

NCT ID NCT03646851

First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looked at 100 people with advanced COPD to see if having aspergillus fungus in their lungs affects their breathing and quality of life. Participants provided sputum samples and filled out questionnaires at the start, then again by phone after 1 and 3 months, and in person after 6 months. The goal was to understand the link between the fungus and COPD symptoms, not to test a new treatment.
