First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving extra protein and activating muscles early can reduce muscle loss in critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). About 40 adults on breathing machines will be split into two groups: one gets standard care, the other gets extra protein and muscle stimulation. The goal is to see if this combination helps preserve muscle mass and strength.
