First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study used special brain scans to look for inflammation in the brains and spinal cords of 60 people with chronic low back pain. Researchers also tested whether a short course of the antibiotic minocycline could reduce that inflammation and ease pain. The goal was to better understand the role of brain inflammation in back pain and explore a potential new treatment approach.
