Could a simple Anti-Inflammatory drug reduce dangerous heart failure treatments?

NCT ID NCT06062966

First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests whether a drug called anakinra can reduce inflammation and help the heart respond better to inotropes (medicines that strengthen heart contractions) in people with end-stage heart failure. About 20 adults on stable inotrope therapy will receive anakinra for 3 months. The goal is to see if this approach can lower the dose of inotropes needed, potentially reducing their serious side effects like irregular heartbeat and sudden death.
