NCT ID NCT07295548

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at whether patients who have head and neck reconstructive surgery with a free flap need to recover in the intensive care unit (ICU) or if a regular hospital ward is just as safe. About 192 adults having this surgery will be randomly assigned to either the ICU or a specialty ward. Researchers will track minor and major complications, flap health, and length of hospital stay to find the best recovery setting.
