Summary

This large study aims to determine which setting on hospital breathing machines helps critically ill patients survive and get off the ventilator sooner. Researchers will test three different breathing machine modes across multiple intensive care units, involving 4,785 adults with severe breathing failure. The study will measure how many days patients stay alive without needing the breathing machine and track survival rates over 28 days.
