Scientists search for clues to why ICU patients lose muscle strength

NCT ID NCT03810768

Summary

This small pilot study aims to understand why some patients develop severe muscle weakness after a long stay in intensive care. Researchers will collect blood and small muscle samples from up to 20 surgical patients at high risk for this condition. By analyzing these samples, they hope to find chemical markers that could explain the cause of the weakness and potentially lead to future ways to predict or prevent it.
